MAISIE – ITALIAN SPINNONE
PROBLEM – NERVOUSNESS AND STALKING OF LONE MALES WHILST ON WALKS
Dez rang me about her 2 year old Spinnone bitch Maisie who had developed a disturbing habit of stalking men whilst out on walks.
This had first occurred some months before when Dez had been walking in a local country park.
She had rushed off ahead and started to circle and bark at a man walking on his own.
The man had over reacted somewhat and waved a stick at her.
This led to further incidents of a similar nature and Dez was worried that sooner or later it would lead to a bite which would be catastrophic.
On attending their home address I found that Maisie was a very demanding dog and Dez was very much nurturing her behaviour.
Maisie slept on her owners bed, not because Dez wanted to but because she made so much noise at night if she didn’t!!!
Even though Dez allowed her to sleep on the bed, Maisie would wake her up during the night to be let out in the garden.
I gave Dez very clear advice on how to become a stronger leader with her dog, giving Dez more confidence whilst out and also giving Maisie confidence in her owner. A further session was booked for a week later and I was delighted when Dez cancelled the session because initial improvements had been so significant.
Another month down the line and a delighted Dez confirmed that the major improvements had been maintained. This was one of those rare occasions when overnight success is achieved in re-balancing a canine behavioural problem.
"I am really pleased.
Maisie’s leadwork is great, there has been no repeat of the stalking behaviour and she sleeps all night. I could not be happier. She always comes when called and I am getting a good night’s sleep which is great!
I am just so pleased with her and so grateful to you for all your help. I am so pleased that I called you in to make me do what I should have been doing all along. Thank you
so much. She is so much happier and so am I."
Dez.
